After the Flood came the dreams - Lino Cut

This is a lino cut I recently finished. Of course its hand painted with inks. I should print this again but I find if I print something and it has one part I don't like I tend to move on to the next print. But I will print another of these soon. Without the hand paint.

Meanwhile I have decided to go to university and get my BA in Fine Art and Visual Culture. It is a huge endevour and I wander if its one I can cope with. What with working, raising a family, and teaching printmaking. I also need time to do my own arts practice and wander if I have what it takes. After all I'm not acedemic at all. I can barely write well and all I want to do is my art.

I start on Monday, part time, online, one unit at a time. I am excited but apprehensive. I am curious but weary. Its a new path. Am I too old or just beginning. LIfe is an amazing journey. STay tuned!

Mornington Peninsula Printmaking Lessons

I am finally, and currently running my own Printmaking Classes on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. So much has happened since I first started making this blog. Now I am finally teaching. Here is a look at my printmaking lesson flyers that I have been distributing. I am not sure if you can get a read of what I have written down.

Let me know if its readable and I look forward to hearing from you all about the wonderful art of printmaking.

SOLD GIRL IN A GUITAR LANDSCAPE!

Yesterday I sold my "Guitar Girl" Painting. A young lady came down from the city. She had seen my artwork on Redbubble and had fallen in love with this painting. I had a lovely afternoon with her. She doesn't paint herself but she really felt something towards this painting. Now she has kindly sent me photographs of its new resting place and I couldn't be happier...it looks wonderful. A great day, a great sale, and I even get to see where its hanging. Most artists never get to see their work after its sold. I am very happy.

Follow the link and read what she has to say...all up I am a happy artist today after selling two works in the Sorrento art show...see you gotta be in it to sell it. Plus the internet is the prime reason I got to sell this painting. Never under estimate the power of the NET. Thanks everyone.

Sorrento Art Show

Well, I have delivered to the Sorrento ARt Show. There is nothing like dropping off your work and thinking to yourself, "Oh No, I have figured this all wrong". AFter doing the Somers Art Show I realized that my work was priced too high.....little things sold and little prices. So, I thought I would do it this time. However after dropping off at Sorrento, it seems to be in reverse. You are greeted at the entry of a painting selling for $10,000 and as you walk around you see things priced over the $1000 mark. Then , as you turn a corner you will see my woodcut prints, beautifully framed and mounted selling for a mere $300. The work that goes into a woodcut is something people don't really comprehend.

Whenever I drop off at an art show...I second guess myself. I wander where I fit in and why...its frustrating for sure.

So, to anyone who reads this blog before this Sunday or it could be today actually. Go to the Sorrento art Show. I have three pieces in there this weekend. Let me know if you find me there....Billy

Staying in the Art Game 20/12/09

Its not easy making sure you have at least an hour of "art time" when you are a mother of two and you have six pets, a business to run and chores to run, like Christmas shopping.....noooooooooo its not easy.

So what did I get up to today in the name of art. In between the bank, the post office, the department stores and parking (what parking) I managed to.....wait for it........hang a painting. Yes, I actually put string behind a painting and hung it in my living room. Deciding that I could never part with the particular piece of art because it is of my daughter....I have officially found it a home in the living room. Its a large piece and takes a good part of the wall up.

So here it is. I hope you like it. Its my contribution to my art today. Because, even if you can't make it, think it, or even read about it, you can, perhaps, hang something on a wall. Its all in the name of art. My art. Feeling good about that today.

Staying in the Art Game - 20/12/09

Still trying to figure out how to blog. Today I am spending way to much time on my laptop in bed with a fat ginger cat, two fox terrier minatures, one fluffy pomperanian scratching away.....and me in my pj's, NOT DOING any art, trying to figure what the heck I am doing this for. Oh Yea, I remember its to blog, put my art out there and to promote myself....ha ha.....is it working? Not so far.
